Excursions for 2016
Excursions are somewhat tentative in that something unforeseen may arise that causes us to change plans, but we are as confident as we can be at this point on the dates and locations of the excursions:
-Thursday, May 12, Reception at the Palace of Navarra: Seat of the Presidency of the Regional Government with its neoclassical style buildings in the heart of Pamplona. We will follow with a trip through old town to enjoy a traditional northern Spanish meal called Pinxtos ("small plates")
-Saturday, May 14, Excursion to Palace of Olite & Winery: Students will visit one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe, the Palace of Olite, built during the 13th and 14th centuries under Charles III of Navarre.
-Sunday, May 15, Visit to the Old Town: Students will visit the Cathedral of Pamplona, which is a Gothic style cathedral built in the 15th century with Neo-Classical facade and towers built in 1780. Additionally, students will discover the history behind the medieval city as they stroll around the 5 kilometer stretch of wall originally built to defend against invaders.
-Wednesday, May 18th, Day Trip to the coastal city of San Sebastian: Students will visit, shop, and tour the beautiful coastal city, founded in 1180 and originally used as a port and military fortress. Today its main economic activities are commerce and tourism, and is one of the most famous touristic destinations in Spain.
-Wednesday, May 25th, Visit to Baztan Valley: The valley of Baztan is situated in the far north of Navarre where small villages and farmlands are scattered throughout vast landscapes of pastures and tourists.
